The Town of Dyer, Indiana was founded in 1855 and incorporated in 1910.  During its history, the Town of Dyer has established itself as a progressive community that maintains a vision of the future while building upon a strong foundation of past accomplishments.

The Town of Dyer 2015 Summer Parks and Recreation Leisuregram, a parks and recreation activity guide, is now available on the Town website. Registration for these activities is going on now. To celebrate 100 years of service by the Dyer Fire Department to the community we are having a parade! At Noon on Saturday, June 6, 2015, the 100 fire truck parade will be held. It will run on Hart St. from 77th Ave. north to Pheasant Hills Park. During this time, please expect road closures as we ensure the safety of the parade participants and parade spectators.

Following the parade, from 2-5pm the Fire Department will be hosting games for all ages in Pheasant Hills Park during the Summer Fest. Also on Saturday, there will be a formal ceremony as a "Salute to our First Responders/Fire Fighters" at 7pm on the main stage. Come out and enjoy the fest and celebrate 100 years of the Dyer Fire Dept.

Pipeline Work going through Dyer

A number of questions have been asked about the construction along the area of the Norfolk Southern rail line running east-west through Dyer. See the picture looking east from the Calumet Ave. bridge below. No, this is not a new bike path being constructed despite many people calling wishing that were the case. It is part of a new pipeline project from Enbridge. Here is a link to the website which gives more detail on "line 78" as it is called.
Central Park refined Master Plan

The Dyer Park and Recreation Board recently approved a refined master development plan for Central Park. This long term development plan for the park shows the ultimate goal of providing recreation spaces for all ages while also being aware of the parks location between future commercial development and existing residential development. Hart Ditch (Plum Creek) Maintenance

The Lake County Drainage Board awarded a contract for maintenance to be performed on the Hart Ditch (also known as Plum Creek), including clearing and snagging, channel bottom dipping, bank protection/restoration, and debris removal, from the State Line north to Route 30. V-Mad Construction will be moving equipment into this area around January 19, 2015, with anticipated start-up as soon as weather permits. read more...

Pheasant Hills Park (map)
The 3rd Annual Kids' Bike Parade will be held at 6:30pm on Wed. June 3, 2015 at Pheasant Hills Park. Kid's should decorate their bikes, themselves, etc. for this judged event which will also ride around the park on the pathway. The parade will be followed by awards and prizes.

Stick around to watch the Movie in the Park, featuring the Oscar award winning movie for best animated picture, Big Hero 6, starting at 8:30pm.

Come out to Pheasant Hills Park on Wed. June 3rd to watch our annual Movie in the Park! For 2015, we will feature the Oscar award winning for best animated movie, Big Hero 6. Kids' should come early with their bikes to participate in the 3rd Annual Dyer Parks and Recreation's Kids' Bike Parade which begins at 6:30pm. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy this event the evening before the 2015 Summer Fest kicks off.
