Meet the Clerk-Treasurer
   
Pat Hawrot, IAMC/CMC  (D)


Current Term: January 1, 2016 - December 31, 2019

Patricia Hawrot was sworn in as Clerk-Treasurer on January 1, 2008, and is now in her third term as Clerk-Treasurer.  She has earned her Indiana Accredited Municipal Clerk designation with the Indiana League of Municipal Clerks & Treasurers and her Certified Municipal Clerk Designation with the International Institute of Municipal Clerks. Pat graduated from Leadership Northwest Indiana in December 2013 LNI Class 34. In June of 2014, Pat completed the work and earned the title of Master Municipal Clerk. Pat is a member of the International League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers, The Indiana League of Municipal Clerks and Treasurers and the Association of Public Treasurers, the Dyer Lady Lions Club, and Pat also serves on the Indiana League of Municipal Clerks & Treasurers Education Committee.  



Duties of the Office of Clerk-Treasurer

The Clerk-Treasurer is the town financial manager with many responsibilities that impact the well-being of local government.

The Clerk-Treasurer is a key official in local government.  No other elected position is specifically defined by law as the duties of the Clerk-Treasurer.  IC 36-5-6-6

Administrative:

Clerk to the Town Council and Boards and Commissions.
Prepare Resolutions and Ordinances for Council approval.
Record and transcribe Council meeting minutes.

Record:

The Clerk-Treasurer is the official custodian of Town records.

Rental Registration
Solicitor Permits
Water Contracts
Water Contracts
Business Licenses
Safe guards all official Town records i.e. bonds, contracts, minutes, correspondence
Keep employee service records and personnel files
